I'll tell you what people. I have never seen a more confident, motivated, and cocky coach in the league as I have seen in Rex Ryan this year. Honestly, this guy pisses me off to the extreme, but damn do I have the deepest respect for him. Eric Mangini, former New York Jets coach, left Ryan with a weak team and no quarterback with leadership ability. Well, Ryan has done a hell of a job with this team. I have to at least admit that. However, those of you who are Jets fans, stop talking all this smack. Yes I am a Colts fan, but it is a true fact that the fans that have no knowledge of the game talk the most smack of anyone. It immature and very stupid. Especially if the talking comes back and bites you. No matter what happens on Sunday in the AFC Championship game, it is going to be an instant classic in the NFL to come. So come to your senses and show sportsmanship. It is the only way to gain other's respect. I will be on hand at the game Sunday so if I see any of you so called fans acting like total douche-bags, well you are dumb.
Ladies and Gentleman, in the past week Indiana lost a great basketball player. University of Southern Indiana lost their Center Jeron Lewis during a basketball game against "cross-river" rivals Kentucky Wesleyan. Jeron Lewis went to high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He transferred from Northeastern Junior College. He averaged 6.1 points a game in 34 games last year. In this year's fourteen games he averaged 12.2 points per game. Some of my friends at Southern Indiana said that they were in shock and awe when the news had spread to the campus in Evansville, Indiana. It has been said that he died of an enlarged heart according to Daviess County (Ky.) coroner. He had missed a few games earlier in the season to go to Fort Wayne for the birth of his first child. This just shows how dedicated he is to his family. For the people of the University, and his family, please pray for them. I hate to see players of all sports be passing away like this. Please pray for his child. R.I.P. Jeron Lewis.Just to clarify things, I am very sorry for not blogging the past few days. I was going to do this on Monday, but I had a 24 hour bug and it was not pretty. Anyway, today one of my best friends Andrew Blejde, who has a very interesting blog as well, posted a link on my Facebook that just sent me over the edge. It was an article by Pete Fiutak, a FoxSports.com writer. The article was titled "10 Reasons the 2009 College Football Season Sucked." First of all, before I go off on this loser, I want to say that this college football season did not suck at all. The only thing that makes it worse is the BCS bull-crap week-in and week-out. As I was reading this article, I came across the ninth reason why the season sucked. This reason was titled "The NFL." Here is what is said:
"I don’t want to hear any more gabbing about how bad the bowls were (unless it’s done by me). The NFL playoffs are abysmal, and even the interesting moments are only decent because of bad, dumb, weird football in an abyss of crap. But we have to watch because it’s the NFL playoffs and there’s nothing else to do. As if the games weren’t bad enough, soon there might not be anything NFL on at all because of a small group of greedy owners ready to lock out the players in the near future in an attempt to become more like baseball, with the idea of revenue sharing likely to go bye-bye. The implosion will come after an uncapped year with no ceiling on what a team can spend, and with no floor, too. What it will all mean is more bad football for a league that's all about fantasy football as much as the on-field product. "
Yes, just read that and soak it in for a bit. The beginning of that second sentence just highlights this whole paragraph of a guy in denial. "The NFL playoffs are abysmal." Uh, excuse me I got a question (with my hand raised up). Did you really just say they are terrible? What the hell are you smoking? Have you seen how college football does it? Apparently there is nothing else to do, so everyone is obligated to watch the NFL playoffs. I am pretty sure that everyone watches the NFL playoffs for their own playoffs unless you legitimately have no interest in the NFL. I'm going to fast-forward to the end of this terrible reason because apparently football is not about the game. Apparently it is about fantasy football nowadays. Listen, if you make it about fantasy football, then it is and I am sorry to say it, but you seriously have no life if you do. I play fantasy football myself, but I only do it out of the pleasure of being a competitor. Everyone can take their own position on this but this is how I feel and I am truly not happy with how reporters are handling sports these days. This is another reason why I want my boy Andrew Mishler in a chair writing the truth about sports. And that's Big Chef's Daily (not literally daily, but often) Grill.
